A friend named Melissa sent this to me in an email. i think it's great.. ;P

"Actually I don't know that much about art, nor am i really "into" art, although someone once said that anything we do that isn't for survival or reproduction is art, which is pretty cool, although i think that the WAYS we make survival happen and the way we reproduce is an art too (think about the meticulous care of staying alive in an avalanche, or the beauty of the Kama Sutra!). Such a statement is cool because it makes "art" something that everyone does, not just "artists," which is very political, but it's also really broad and vague, and it makes the shit that we do everyday, like scrathing our asses, on par with creating something that speaks from our souls (which i know sounds really flaky and melodramatic, but for lack of a better phrase)."
